Freddy Matthews is a Chicago-born guitarist and multi-genre songwriter whose music blends rock, country, pop, and island soul into a sun-soaked escape. Raised on classic 60’s and 70’s vinyl and rooted in the blues, he honed his craft in the Appalachian foothills before making Tampa his home.
In Florida, Freddy powered the reggae-rock outfit Facility with Rich Allen and later co-founded the F. R. Music Project. His solo work began in 2021, partnering with producer Mark Duvall to record 15 new original songs set to begin rolling out in 2025. In these tracks, the warm, emotional storytelling of Nashville ballads blends with a coastal, soulful flair unique to Matthews’ evolving sound.
Freddy’s journey keeps gathering momentum—in 2022 he joined the "Frequency Spot Family" through a collaboration with legendary bassist-producer Jerry Navarro (with more music on the way) and in 2024 he gained a music sponsorship through The Instrument Barn in Chicago.
Currently you can find Freddy performing or writing songs under the Florida sun.
